MUD Client Listing

There are a number of MUD clients available for connecting to Abandoned Reality, and some of them implement compression. If you are able to use a client that supports compression, we would really appreciate you using that feature. If your client doesn't support it, not to worry, because there is a program that works under Windows and most versions of UNIX that will allow you to use compression. Some users of compression have noted a speed increase in their connection to the game.

There is currently no compression support for MACOS. Anyone who wants to port the client to MACOS is more than welcome to, or anyone wanting to donate a Macintosh running the current MACOS is quite welcome to!

UNIX Clients

xTUsh [GNU] - This has triggers, ANSI color (in a color xterm), graphics support (AR can do this, but it will never be implemented outside of a room in the OOC complex), aliases and support for multiple connections. A patch to allow xTUsh to implement compression directly is available here.

MCL [GNU] - A client for Linux console. This features stable prompts, scrollback, ANSI colour, command history, automatic login, automatic compression if it's connecting to a compression capable MUD and is known to work on both i386 and sparc Linux.

Papaya [GNU] - A GTK based client for UNIX and Windows, known to work on Linux and Solaris. Features stable prompts, aliases, plugins, ANSI colour, command history and automatic compression if connected to a compression capable MUD.

Windows Clients

MUSHClient [Unlimited evaluation period, $20 registration] - Has ANSI color, scrollback, aliases, triggers, scripting and other features. Supports automatic compression of data if connecting to a compression capable MUD.

ZMUD [30 day trial, $25 registration] - Has ANSI color, triggers, aliases, automapping, scrollback, command history and many other features. Requires the compression program to connect using compression.

Papaya [GNU] - A GTK based client for UNIX and Windows, known to work on Linux and Solaris. Features stable prompts, aliases, plugins, ANSI colour, command history and automatic compression if connected to a compression capable MUD.
